Bukit Timah Hike 2009/07/11

IMG_4426.JPGAnother Bukit Timah Hike with my colleagues.  Detailed path taken: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/8529515

This time round, we managed to find out that there’s a closed path that is not shown in the maps we’ve seen everywhere in the nature reserve.

Going through the Tiup Tiup Path, I see no reason why this area is not accessible to public. In fact, we do see quite a few people going through this trail as a natural part of their hike.

On the unmaintained Tiup Tiup Hut, we saw what the map once was, and hiking here, is at your own risk, I assume.

I guess we are not doing anything wrong here.

One unfortunate thing happened though. Both of David’s shoe sole had worn off, and the hike became too slippery for him. He had to leave us at Rengas Path back to the car park.

Picture 7.jpgThe pain points of the climb is still at the end of Dairy Farm Loop near the Seraya Loop junction. It’s uphill on steep steps, and if you don’t take it slowly, will probably exercise the most of your cardiovascular system. My heart goes up to Zone 5 there, but the rest of the hike, my heart only beats at less than Zone 1 :( Does that mean that my group is too slow? Or do I need something more challenging than this?

The chart on the right documents my three trips. First one shows how strenuous the hike can be for me, and on the second and third chart, I spend most of my time not stressing my body much.

I should probably use my bicycle here as that raises my heart beat like a kettle of boiling water.

We had fun, there could be more people in the party, but some could not make it in fear of the rain. But we’ll let them go off scott free for now :)
